A Local Presence with a Broad Impact in Baltimore and Washington DC
Our commitment to the Baltimore and Washington DC communities is reflected in our participation in local events, such as our appearance on Midday Maryland, where we shared insights into how executive function coaching can support students in the region.
We work with students from various middle and high schools, as well as those attending top universities like the University of Maryland, American University, George Mason University, and many others. By understanding the specific challenges faced by students in these communities, we offer targeted strategies that foster long-term success.
How Executive Function Coaching Works
Our remote executive function coaching is designed to support students in Baltimore and Washington DC by helping them develop the skills for success in academic, extracurricular, and personal settings. Here’s how we do it:
- Initial Assessment and Goal Setting: We begin by understanding each student’s unique challenges, whether they are managing ADHD, dyslexia, anxiety, or the pressures of being a high-achieving student. This allows us to set purposeful goals that align with their academic and personal aspirations.
- Strategic Planning and Organization: Our coaches collaborate with students to create a structured weekly plan that incorporates all their academic, extracurricular, and life commitments. This approach helps students manage their time effectively, reduce stress, and stay on track with their goals.
- Ongoing Accountability and Support: We provide continuous support through regular check-ins and communication between sessions. Our coaches are available to answer questions, offer guidance, and help students stay accountable to their goals. This ongoing support is needed as students build long-term skills and systems, especially those managing ADHD or anxiety.
- Development of Skills for Success: We teach students practical strategies to improve their executive function skills, including overcoming procrastination, prioritizing tasks, and time management. These skills are needed for students balancing rigorous academic schedules with extracurricular activities and personal responsibilities.
Case Study: Achieving Academic and Athletic Goals
One of our most notable success stories involves Alex, a high school student in Washington DC with ADHD. Alex had aspirations of earning a college soccer scholarship but struggled with executive function challenges that made it difficult to manage his time and stay organized. He was overwhelmed by the demands of his academic and athletic commitments, and his parents were concerned that his disorganization would hinder his chances of playing soccer in college.
The Challenge:
Alex needed to improve his executive function skills to balance his schoolwork and athletic training effectively. His ADHD made it difficult for him to focus, plan, and complete assignments on time, putting his scholarship aspirations at risk.
Our Approach:
We began working with Alex remotely several days a week, focusing on building a structured routine that aligned with his academic and athletic goals. One of the key strategies was teaching Alex how to use a digital calendar and time block his days. This included scheduling study time, training sessions, and time with friends to ensure a balanced and productive week.
We also introduced techniques to help Alex break down larger tasks into smaller, manageable steps. This approach helped him tackle school projects and assignments without feeling overwhelmed. By setting clear, attainable goals and tracking his progress, Alex was able to stay focused, disciplined, and motivated.

Results:
Over several months, Alex’s grades improved, and he felt more in control of his time. His newfound organizational skills allowed him to dedicate more focused time to his soccer training, ultimately leading to several scholarship offers. Alex is now playing soccer at the collegiate level, demonstrating that with the right executive function skills, students with ADHD can achieve their academic and athletic goals.
Alex sums up his process by saying, “Before working with a coach, I felt like I was constantly behind and couldn’t catch up. Now, I have a plan and feel more confident about myself.”
Student-Athlete Support in Washington DC and Baltimore
Student-athletes often juggle demanding academic schedules alongside rigorous training. Without effective time management and organizational skills, balancing both can be challenging.
Our executive function coaching helps student-athletes strategically plan their schedules, ensuring they have dedicated time for academics, training, and rest. By using time-blocking techniques and creating balanced routines, we help them stay organized, reduce stress, and avoid burnout.
Why Executive Function Skills Matter for High-Achieving Students
Executive function skills are important for all students, but they are especially important for high-achieving students. These skills—often referred to as the “CEO of the brain”—are needed for planning, goal-setting, and self-regulation. For students with ADHD or anxiety, developing strong executive function skills can make the difference between struggling and thriving.
Our coaching focuses on teaching these skills in a practical, hands-on way. We help students learn to:

-
- Organize their thoughts and materials: Creating systems that reduce clutter and promote efficiency. Getting their ideas out of their heads and into an organizational system decreases anxiety and improves outcomes.
-
- Prioritize effectively: Understanding which tasks are most important and allocating time accordingly.
-
- Be efficient with their time: Use digital tools and structured calendars to make the most out of every day.
